This is a complex, ambitious project that has two, interwoven narrative threads. The main story revolves around Darcy Robinson, a once celebrated chess player who now plays on the street for money, while the secondary plot is metatheatrical with an “emcee” named Roger, who claims to be orchestrating the play in which Darcy “performs”. The play utilizes ancient tropes of Greek theater, Shakespearean iambic pentameter and Brechtian epic theater devices, among others.

You Try Living Here, revolves around an aspiring actress who has botched an audition, is about to be evicted and can’t find the means to bury her beloved, dead cat. It contemplates Los Angeles as the mecca of broken dreams rather than “the dream factory”.
This play has been workshopped at the ATHE Play Development Workshop and The Other Space Theater with FRESH PRODUC'D LA.
In 2017, Leicester Bay Theatricals will publish this play as part of an anthology of work selected by the ATHE New Play Development Workshop.
